The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame has revealed its 2026 class of inductees, celebrating a diverse lineup of artists whose influence spans rock, pop, metal, soul, and hip-hop. The announcement was made on April 13 during a Rock Hall–themed episode of American Idol, hosted by Ryan Seacrest with guest Lionel Richie.

This year’s performer category features a mix of long‑awaited honorees and first‑time nominees. The 2026 inductees include:
- Phil Collins – the legendary singer, drummer and former Genesis frontman whose solo career defined an era
- Billy Idol – a defining voice of 1980s rock with an unmistakable punk‑inspired edge
- Iron Maiden – heavy metal pioneers whose global influence remains unmatched
- Joy Division / New Order – two interconnected bands that shaped post‑punk and electronic music
- Oasis – the Britpop giants behind some of the most enduring anthems of the 1990s
- Sade – the iconic vocalist known for her smooth, soulful sound
- Wu‑Tang Clan – one of the most influential hip‑hop collectives of all time
- Luther Vandross (posthumously) – the beloved R&B and soul singer celebrated for his extraordinary vocal talent
For Vandross and Wu‑Tang Clan, this marks their first appearance on the ballot. The remaining inductees had been nominated in previous years.

Ceremony Details and Eligibility
The 2026 induction ceremony will take place on November 14 at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. The event will be recorded and later broadcast in December on ABC and Disney+.
To qualify for nomination, an artist must have released their first commercial recording at least 25 years before the year of consideration. This year’s ballot featured 17 nominees, including New Edition, Pink, Shakira, Mariah Carey, INXS, Jeff Buckley, Melissa Etheridge and Lauryn Hill.

John Sykes, Chairman of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, described induction as “music’s highest honor” and promised an unforgettable celebration of the artists whose work has shaped generations of listeners.
