FC Barcelona is currently on an international break, and one of the most anticipated questions during this period has been whether the team would return to the Spotify Camp Nou for the match against Athletic Bilbao on 22 November.
The return to their iconic home has been delayed for a considerable time. What was initially expected to happen at the beginning of 2025 is now finally set to take place later in the year, as the club has officially confirmed.

According to the club’s official statement via its Twitter account, Barcelona will return to the Spotify Camp Nou against the Basque club with a capacity of 45,400 spectators. The club has received the necessary certifications for this.
Barcelona could have moved back earlier with a 1A licence, but that would have restricted the capacity to just 27,000 spectators. In contrast, their temporary home at the Montjuic Stadium has almost double that capacity.
Many players in the first-team squad are set to play at the Camp Nou for the first time in their careers, stepping onto the same hallowed turf that has witnessed legendary moments from icons like Johan Cruyff’s “Dream Team,” Ronaldinho’s magic, and Lionel Messi’s record-shattering goals. Earlier this month, when the club hosted an open training session at the stadium, the turnout and the atmosphere were fantastic, offering a glimpse of the passion that has defined the stadium since its opening in 1957.
With the return of players such as Raphinha and Joan Garcia from injury, the expectation is for Barcelona to mark their homecoming with a victory over Ernesto Valverde’s side. Let us hope everything pans out like a dream and that the club makes a successful return to the Camp Nou, writing a new chapter in a stadium steeped in history, from the European Cup victories in 1992 and 2011 to the unforgettable 6-1 Remontada against Paris Saint-Germain in 2017.
