Michael Douglas Shares “Freezing” Arctic Travel Vlog — Including a Stop at an Incredible Ice Hotel.

Michael Douglas is proving that adventure has no age limit. Fresh off a family trip to Antarctica, the 81‑year‑old actor has now taken his travels to the opposite end of the Earth — the Arctic — and he’s bringing fans along for the ride.

On Friday, Feb. 13, Douglas posted a new video on Instagram documenting his latest expedition. Bundled in a heavy winter coat and protective helmet, he introduced viewers to the stark, icy landscape surrounding him. Behind him stretched endless snowfields and towering white mountains, illuminated by the soft glow of a rising sun.

“Welcome to the Arctic. I was in Antarctica last week,” Douglas said as he panned the camera across the frozen horizon. “This is the Arctic, we are out here on the border with Russia.” He noted the region’s extreme daylight patterns, explaining that the sun was just rising around 10 a.m. and would set again only a few hours later.

A Stay at an Extraordinary Ice Hotel

Douglas also offered a rare look inside an ice hotel — a structure carved almost entirely from snow and ice. In the dim, bluish light, he walked viewers through rooms featuring sculpted walls, massive ice blocks serving as bed frames, and intricate artistic carvings where traditional furniture might normally sit.

“Here are some rooms in the ice hotel,” he said, sounding genuinely amazed. “Everybody’s got like… sculptors made into the wall, just wild. These are all ice blocks, a snow station, look at this. Wow. Alright, I mean, I’ve never seen anything like it, never have, never will.”

He captioned the post: “Good morning from the Arctic 🇳🇴! It’s freezing out here! Have a great weekend! MD.”

Family Adventures — North and South

While Douglas recently traveled to Antarctica with his wife, Catherine Zeta‑Jones, and their children Dylan, 25, and Carys, 22, he didn’t reveal whether they joined him on this Arctic leg of his journey. Zeta‑Jones and the couple’s children have not shared any posts from the region so far.

Just weeks earlier, in January, Douglas posted a cheerful family photo from Antarctica. Wearing matching life vests, hats, and sunglasses, the family appeared in high spirits as they explored the southernmost continent by boat. “Greetings from Antarctica!” he wrote at the time.

Douglas is also father to Cameron, 47, from his previous marriage to Diandra Luker.

A Memoir on the Horizon

Beyond his globe‑spanning travels, Douglas is preparing to share more of his personal story. The two‑time Oscar winner recently announced that he is working on a memoir that will offer a deeper look into his life, both public and private.

“After being asked for many years, I’ve finally decided it’s time to tell my story on my own terms,” he told Deadline. “Not the highlight reel, not the version shaped by headlines or box office numbers, but the real one.”

He added that the book will explore “where I came from, what I fought against and what I chose for myself,” noting that fame often distorts reality. “This is my attempt to bring it back into focus.”
