With the fast pace of life, many of us dream of a short, relaxing trip that will allow us to escape from everyday life, at least for a moment. The latest Easy Breaks Index from Late Rooms – a ranking of the easiest and least stressful short breaks from British airports to European cities – shows that you don’t need a week’s vacation for an adventurous getaway. Two days are enough. And at the top of the list is Kraków.
The ranking analyzes the most important factors affecting the comfort of short trips:average flight times, cost and time of transfer from the airport, hotel prices, ratings of key attractions, and the overall “ease” of exploring the city.
Krakow, praised as “best overall easy escape,” scored particularly highly for its walkability, affordability, and welcoming atmosphere, offering “maximum experience with minimum effort,” the authors said.

With flights lasting under three hours from major UK cities and a convenient 17-minute commute from Krakow Airport to the city centre, Poland’s former royal capital has been considered an ideal destination for travellers trying to make the most of limited time.
The city was also recognised for good value for money, with hotel prices starting from around €80 per night, and its compactness, boasting an impressive number of picturesque landmarks within a relatively small area.
The city’s historic Market Square, a UNESCO World Heritage site renowned for its well-preserved medieval buildings, remains a particular favourite among tourists, with a 4.8 out of 5 rating on popular travel site TripAdvisor.
The list also includes other ideal destinations for a short reset: Copenhagen, Prague, Berlin, Venice, and many more – all great for people who want to quickly change their surroundings and feel the atmosphere of European cities without a long journey.
