Mick Jagger, 82, Says There’s “Nothing Good” About Getting Older: A Raw, Unfiltered Look at Aging.

82‑year‑old Mick Jagger has never been one to sugarcoat reality, and his latest interview proves it once again. Speaking with The New York Times for its series The Interview, the Rolling Stones frontman delivered a candid, almost brutal assessment of what aging feels like after more than six decades in the global spotlight.

Aging Without Romance: “You Forget Everything”

Jagger didn’t hesitate when asked about getting older.

“There’s nothing good about it. Nothing. You don’t get wisdom. You forget everything.”

He joked that any wisdom he once had has long since slipped away. And while he still performs with remarkable energy, he admitted that age inevitably slows him down.

“You can still do things, but you have to be more careful.”

The singer, who is raising his 9‑year‑old son Deveraux with partner Melanie Hamrick, described the physical and mental realities of aging as simply “not particularly pleasant.”

Life in Fame: “It’s Not Normal”

Jagger also reflected on how decades of global fame have shaped — and distorted — his relationship with everyday life.

“It is not like most people’s lives. It does affect you. You can become disassociated from other people.”

To stay grounded, he relies on something surprisingly simple: walking alone on the street, doing ordinary things, reconnecting with the world beyond the stage.

Rolling Stones and AI: A Playful Experiment

Jagger and Keith Richards recently spoke to Billboard about their experience using deepfake technology in the music video for “In the Stars.” The clip features younger versions of the band, but Jagger emphasized that the musicians themselves were real — only their faces were digitally altered.

Richards, amused by the results, called it the band’s “brushing with AI” and joked that he wished he still looked like his 1968 self.
