Drake Reveals His Father’s Cancer Battle in Emotional New Single “Make Them Cry”.

Drake has opened up about one of the most personal chapters of his life, revealing in his new track “Make Them Cry” that his father, Dennis Graham, was diagnosed with cancer. The confession appears on Iceman, the first of three albums the rapper released on May 15, marking one of the most intimate moments in his recent work.

A Raw Confession in the Opening Track

Toward the end of “Make Them Cry,” Drake delivers a strikingly vulnerable line:

“My dad got cancer right now, we battlin’ stages…”

Although he doesn’t specify the type of cancer in the song, the lyric immediately sparked concern and support from fans around the world. The track also sees Drake reflecting on aging, pressure from the industry, and the emotional weight of family responsibilities.

He raps about turning 40, facing criticism before the album even dropped, and the shifting dynamics within his family — including caring for his parents as they grow older.

Dennis Graham Confirms: He Is in Remission

Shortly after the album’s release, Dennis Graham spoke with TMZ and clarified that he is currently in remission. He revealed that he had previously been diagnosed with lung cancer, but recent updates from his doctors brought good news.

He told reporters:

“It disappeared. And here I am.”

Graham added that he feels “wonderful” and expressed gratitude for the outpouring of love following Drake’s lyric.

A Heartfelt Instagram Moment

To celebrate the release of Iceman, Dennis posted a touching photo of himself embracing Drake. The caption read:

“The Ice Man and The Nice Man just doing what we do, don’t get it twisted.”

Fans flooded the comments with messages of support, prayers, and encouragement for his continued recovery.

Dennis Graham’s Musical Legacy

Before becoming known as Drake’s father, Dennis Graham built his own career in music. He performed as a drummer with Dennis Graham and the North Memphis Band, and even played with Jerry Lee Lewis. In 2021, he released the single “Father and Son,” a tribute to his bond with Drake.

Drake’s Reflections on Pressure, Family, and Fame

“Make Them Cry” is more than a personal revelation — it’s a window into Drake’s current mindset. He addresses:

  • the pressure of approaching 40
  • criticism from fans and the industry
  • his evolving role within his family
  • the emotional toll of fame

One of the most striking lines captures this shift:

“I have to father my mother and treat my son’s grandfather like my older brother.”

It’s a rare moment of vulnerability from an artist known for balancing bravado with introspection.

Three Albums, One Day

On May 15, Drake surprised fans by releasing three full albums:

  • Iceman
  • Habibti
  • Maid of Honour

The move instantly dominated conversations in the music world and showcased Drake’s relentless creative output.
