Amanda Bynes Returns to Music with EDM-Inspired Single “Girlfriend”.

Amanda Bynes is officially stepping back into the music scene. The former actress, now 40, has released her first new track in four years — an upbeat, EDM‑influenced single titled “Girlfriend”, created in collaboration with producer Zabba and rapper Fenix Flexin. The song dropped on Friday, April 10, and is now available on Spotify and Apple Music.

A Dance-Driven Comeback

“Girlfriend” blends an energetic dance beat with Auto‑Tune‑enhanced vocals as Bynes sings about infatuation and new romance. Signed under Create Music Group, she delivers a catchy hook with the lines: “My friends love hearing about you / I love everything you do / I wanna be your girlfriend.”

The single’s cover art features a snowy landscape beneath a pink sky, with frost‑covered trees — a dreamy, atmospheric contrast to the track’s club‑ready sound.

Bynes told PEOPLE that her creative direction was shaped by “a lot of EDM, as well as rap,” reflecting the song’s hybrid style.

Label Praises “High-Replay” Appeal

In a statement to E! News, Create Music Group described the track as a “catchy, high‑replay record with a smooth West Coast bounce.” The label highlighted its “strong hook and confident, flirt-heavy energy,” noting that the song was crafted for repeat listens and broad playlist appeal.

A New Chapter in Her Creative Journey

Since stepping away from acting in 2010, Bynes has explored various creative paths. She previously released the singles “Diamonds” in 2021 and “Fairfax” in 2022. Outside of music, she graduated from the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in 2019 and briefly hosted a podcast in 2023.

In recent months, Bynes has also been open about her personal transformation. In December, she shared that she had lost nearly 30 pounds after starting Ozempic, writing on Instagram that she was “inspired” by her progress.

Reconnecting with Fans

Bynes also announced in April 2025 that she had joined OnlyFans, emphasizing that her goal was to connect with supporters rather than post explicit content. “I won’t be posting any sleazy content,” she wrote. “Excited to join.”

With “Girlfriend,” Bynes signals a renewed focus on music — and fans are already eager to see where this new chapter leads.
