Ronaldo shares a selfie from the White House.

A selfie snapped by Al Nassr superstar Cristiano Ronaldo at a White House dinner on Tuesday in honor of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman – and attended by some of the world’s most influential figures – has gone viral on social media.

It was his first visit to the US since 2016.

Pictured with Ronaldo are the most powerful and richest people in the world.

Why was Cristiano Ronaldo at the White House?

The legendary footballer was invited to the President’s home last night for a meeting between Donald Trump and Mohammed bin Salman, with the Saudi crown prince showing off the Portuguese forward as one of the things his country has to offer.

During the dinner, Trump acknowledged Ronaldo’s attendance saying that his son, Barron, is a “big fan.”

“This room is loaded up with the biggest leaders in the world, business [and] sports,” Trump said. “My son is a big fan of Ronaldo…and Barron got to meet him, and I think he respects his father a little bit more now,” Trump joked.

Ronaldo plays for Saudi Arabia’s Al Nassr and is one of several global players who have been attracted to the Kingdom in recent years.

Saudi Arabia is currently focusing on a government programme called The Vision, which aims to achieve the goal of increased diversification economically and socially, without the reliance on oil. Playing host to some of the world’s best footballers is just one of several paths it has gone down.

Despite Ronaldo now being 40, albeit with a far younger biological age, he is perhaps the best paid player in the world, reportedly earning a record-breaking $200 million per year. Alongside his many other ventures, this has seen him become the world’s first billionaire football player.

Who was featured in Ronaldo’s selfie?

Portugal’s Ronaldo posed along with his partner Georgina Rodriguez, Tesla CEO Elon Musk, FIFA chief Gianni Infantino, US Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick and White House AI and crypto czar David Sacks and President and Co-Founder of OpenAI Greg Brockman.

The photo is probably one of the biggest selfies since the iconic Oscars selfie from 2014, which featured the likes of Meryl Streep, Brad Pitt and Julia Roberts to name just a few.
